The Miami Dolphins were one of several teams to contact the Seattle Seahawks about trading for Richard Sherman during the offseason, and they reportedly tried to acquire the All-Pro cornerback as recently as last month.
Sources told Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that Miami had “considerable interest” in Sherman and made multiple attempts to trade for him from March through August. The Dolphins still want to upgrade their defense, and head coach Adam Gase is said to be a big fan of Sherman’s.
While the Seahawks could still trade Sherman before the Week 8 deadline, moving the star defensive back is far less likely during the season. La Canfora notes that the Dolphins and Seahawks did not get into deep talks regarding Sherman, and Seattle is no longer looking to trade the 29-year-old. That could always change depending on how things go over the next several weeks, but Sherman holds no ill will toward the team despite the trade discussions.
